What is the Growth Management Master Plan?

The Growth Management Master Plan is a planning document that provides guidance for how the City should develop in the next 20 years. The Growth Management Master Plan provides a snapshot of the existing conditions and a background of Gallup’s history. The plan sets the overall vision of Gallup and what the community aspires to be in the future. It provides a realistic action plan through specific goals and policies that prioritize community values. The plan addresses the following topics:

  • Land Use
  • Transportation
  • Urban Design
  • Economic Development
  • Parks, Recreation, and Open Space
  • Housing
  • Water
  • Utilities
  • Hazard Mitigation

Key Goals of the Growth Management Master Plan Update

  • Establish priorities for updates to parks and recreation facilities
  • Support robust and diverse housing options
  • Update goals and policies based on current conditions and demographics
  • Enhance economic vitality

Project Timeline

The update is a one year process that will include public input opportunities, community-wide visioning exercises, public open houses, and public hearings to formally adopt the plan as an official policy of the City of Gallup.
